Week of August 28th

Week of August 28th!

What we're learning this week!

Math- We're finishing up with area model and will start standard algorithm on Tuesday.

Reading- We're starting Esperanza Rising this week. We will be discussing story elements from the book over the next few weeks. Ask your child about what they've learned so far!

Social Studies- We're continuing with the Civil War. We are learning about some of the major battles that occurred during the war.

Science- We will be learning about the Earth's layers, Pangaea, and plate tectonics.

Spelling- Spelling words this week have the long i, long o. This week's test will be on Friday!

4-H: Every 4-H meeting two students will be chosen to take part in the 4-H oral presentation project. These students will need to chose a topic, research their topic, and deliver that information to our class. We are excited to see what Rowan and Jay are going to present at our next meeting on September 22nd.

Also, 4-H enrollment forms are being sent home on Tuesday. Please return those as soon as possible!

Upcoming Events:
Early Release this Wednesday, August 30th. Students are dismissed 2 hours early.
Labor Day is Monday, September 4th. There is no school on Labor Day!
Fall Break is September 25-29th!

The secret word this week is CHEETOS. Have your child tell one of us the secret word and they will earn 10 Dojo points! :)

Please let us know if you have any questions! We are always available to discuss your child's progress in class!
